The Eye of God

Stephanie Lemke, a Croatian immigrant to Wisconsin, embellished these eggs with colorful thread, woven into an eye-like pattern, which represents the eye of God. Lemke's parents used this symbolism as a moral teaching tool for Stephanie and her siblings. The children felt that God was watching them wherever the eggs were present.
