The Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) is proud to announce the launch of its new Electronic Records Portal (WERP), where users can explore digitally created state public records online. WERP is meant to offer Wisconsinites, researchers and curious individuals much improved access to Wisconsin state electronic records.  It is part of a larger NHPRC funded grant project to better preserve and provide research access to the state’s digital records.

What is Available:

All state agencies create digital documents during their daily work. Records that are considered historically significant are sent, after a number of years, to WHS for preservation. All records that come to WHS in digital format will be added to WERP for public viewing. These records are often part of a larger collection including paper documents, photographs, and various film and audio formats available at WHS Headquarters in Madison, WI.

Browse WERP and view fun featured collections like ‘Wisconsin State Coin Drafts’ and ‘Year 2000 (Y2k) records’ from the WERP homepage.
