Additional Information: | CORNER SITE WITH CORNER PAVILIONS. BAROQUE REVIVAL CHARACTER. ALTERED FIRST STORY. RE-SURVEYED 2009: Constructed and operated by Arthur L. Roberts hotel chain of Winona, Minnesota, the building was originally known as the Land O' Lakes Hotel. The building also housed a coffee shop, and drug store. With the repeal of prohibition in 1933, the coffee shop was converted into a cocktail bar and renamed the Blue Blazer. Ownership of the building changed hands and the bar/restaurant name changed several times between 1945 to 1962, when Ed Doyle converted the hotel into The King Edward Inn. At that, time, Edwards altered the building's exterior and interior to an "Old English" style. |
