Additional Information: | Garage and shed on property. "This two-story gabled-ell has been significantly altered since it was originally surveyed in 1976. While it had previously been sheathed with clapboard and likely retained its original windows, the current structure is now completely sided with blue, vinyl siding while the window openings have been resized and replaced with modern casement examples. Charles and Helen (Runchman) Tempero came to the United States (from England) in 1842. The following year they purchased 160 acres in Section 8, Lisbon Township. His brother Thomas would soon follow and purchase 160 acres in the same section. Charles and Helen had six children; Charles died in 1881. Shortly thereafter, the 160-acre parcel was split, with the north half going to son David (and his wife Agnes Davidson), while the subject 80-acre tract went to son William and Mary (McGill) Tempero. It is likely, therefore, that the subject house, or a portion thereof, was erected in the ca. 1880s. By 1914, William had passed away and the parcel went to his wife Mary. The Tempero family (son Clarence and wife Lillian) retained possession into the 1940s. But by the ca. 1960s, the house was in the hands of the current owner, Fred Freiburger. It currently occupies a 2 acre tract." |
