Additional Information: | This two-story Gabled Ell house was constructed in 1880 for Anton and Johanna Vogel. It is irregular in plan (due to a series of additions) with a stone foundation, cream brick walls, and an asphalt-shingled gable roof with overhanging eaves. The front elevation faces east and is asymmetrical in composition with two segmentally-arched window openings at the first and second stories of the front-gabled mass; all window openings feature newer 1-over-1 windows and are accented by decorative shutters. A circular stone plaque under the gable may bear the house’s construction year and/or owner’s name, but was not legible at the time of survey. A one-story, shed-roofed porch spans the side-gabled mass; the porch has been enclosed and is clad in board-and-batten siding with pairs of 3-over-1 windows and a single door in its east wall. Above the porch are two 1-over-1 windows. A one-story, gable-roofed addition projects from the south wall of the porch and is clad in board-and-batten siding. The building’s north elevation (facing STH 33) features the ghost of a door and gabled hood; two segmentally-arched window openings (with newer 1-over-1 windows and decorative shutters) remain at the first and second stories of the north elevation. |
