Additional Information: | This building was Tollie's Restaurant in the late 1920's and early 1930's when President Herbert Hoover stopped to eat lunch one day before heading north on a Wisconsin fishing trip. The President, while in Sauk City, also stopped at Ziemke's Jewelry Store to purchase something for his wife. Ziemke's Jewelry Store is now the Mexican Restaurant. Local lore states that Barack Obama stopped at The Penguin to ask for directions in recent years. Demolished between 2018 and 2020 according to Google Maps and Google Earth Pro. |
