NOTES
Additional Information:2023: Built in 1870, the one-and-one-half-story Waterbury-Tripp House is a gable ell residence with wide lap wood cladding and Gothic Revival features including a steeply pitch dormer, large brackets, and porch ornamentation. The entrance on the front (east) facade is within a large porch with ornamented porch posts and brackets. The porch has been partially enclosed. The facade also has a wide cornice with elaborate brackets, a steeply pitched gable wall dormer, and a small bay window. A modern picture window is located within the porch. A box bay with a hip roof is on the side (south) elevation. All windows have been replaced. James Issac Waterbury purchased 110 acres in 1868 and worked as a farmer. He built the house in 1870. J.S. Tripp also lived at the home when he married James’s daughter, Nellie Waterbury. Tripp was active in local government in Prairie du Sac and worked as a lawyer and banker. He lived at the property until his death in 1915.
