Additional Information: | 2023: Built in 1902, the two-story F.S. Eberhart Building has a rectangular plan, flat roof, and red brick cladding. The front (east) facade has an original wrought-iron storefront with a recessed entrance and an original door to the second-story living space featuring a transom. The iron paneling above the storefront windows features four terra cotta rosettes. The second story has a projecting bay with a flat roof, fixed window flanked by double-hung windows, and wood paneling underneath. The picture window to the south of the bay has a stone sill and lintel. The cornice features additional ornamentation and the original name, “F.S. Eberhart” inscribed. A projecting metal sign is over the store entrance and reads “Sauk Prairie Power Equipment.” The side (south) elevation features cream brick. A rear addition has porches on the first and second stories. F.S. Eberhart built the property in 1902 as a jewelry store with living space on the second floor. Eberhart was also a photographer who produced postcards of numerous other buildings in the area throughout the first half of the twentieth century. Since the 1980s it has served as the Sauk Prairie Power Equipment store. |
