Additional Information: | 2021 - This small, one-room log cabin is located just north of Parson's Indian Trading Post (AHI #220774) and is associated with that business. The side-gabled building appears to sit on a concrete pad and is constructed of hewn logs with lapped corner notching. On the front, west-facing façade is a paneled wood door with a pair of flanking six-over-six double-hung windows. The north and south gable ends have board and batten siding and a 12-light window. The roof is sheathed with asphalt shingles. A sign on the façade reads, “LOG CABIN BUILT IN 1850.” This does not appear to be the original location of the cabin according to the current owner of the business. She thinks it was moved to this location, or rebuilt at this location, in 1918. The cabin may have previously been at the original location of the trading post on Highway 13, which was known as the “Indian Hills Trading Post.” The owner also indicated the cabin was in very poor condition and in need of repairs and restoration about 10 years ago. The existing doors and windows were salvaged from elsewhere and the roof was rebuilt. At one point the cabin was used a gas station. |
