Additional Information: | Joseph T. Bridge, son of John Bridge, came to Monroe in 1881. He dealt in real estate and was a highly respected citizen. Joseph built a building on the Square named "Rufi's." Occupants on the home in the 1920s nearly burned down the house while making illegal liquor in the attic. The blackened rafters testify to this incident. A secret closet on the 2nd floor, concealed by a false wall, was where the liquor was stored. |
