NOTES
Additional Information:This Medeterranean Revival commercial block is made of brown brick with twisted colonnettes and mosaic tile work in windows.

L.D. Swidler constructed a commercial block of four storefronts and second floor apartments speculatively in 1928. By 1935, the property was owned by the Prudential Insurance Company, presumably because Swidler was unable to maintain the building financially. One of the long-term tenants was Frederick Niemann, a confectioner and chocolate maker who had previously worked from the Niemann Chocolate Shop building at 1409 North Wauwatosa Avenue, and who operated from the Swidler Block from 1936 to 1961.
