Additional Information: | This house was first surveyed in 1975, at which time it had already been resided in vinyl or aluminum clapboards. The house was resurveyed in 2021 and by then it had been resided once more, this time in vinyl. In addition, an existing one-story wing that was attached to the house's SE-facing side elevation in 1975 has since been greatly enlarged to house a two-car garage. Window alterations have also been made on the main SW-facing facade as well since 1975. Plat maps show that the house was already in existence by 1891. 2021: This Side Gable Vernacular Form house has a nearly square plan, side gable-roofed, two-story-tall main block to whose rear elevation is attached a small one-story-tall gable-roofed ell. The original house therefore had a T-plan. These two elements are still extant today (2021) but by 1975 a new one-story gable-roofed ell had been attached to the side elevation of the original rear ell and by 2021 this new ell had been replaced by a much larger one-story-tall gable roofed rear ell that contains a two-car garage, and which gives the house an L-shaped plan today. The entire house is now clad in vinyl siding most of the original windows in the original block have now been replaced with modern ones. This house appears on the 1891 Plat Map of Orfordville, at which time it was owned by O. C. Wee, and it was probably built ca.1885. |
