| Additional Information: | This is the second Buckhorn Inn at this location - the first served not only as a tavern, but as a stage coach stop, post office for the town of Painesville, and a stop for farmers hauling hay to Milwaukee. The first structure was demolished an an unknown date and replaced with the present. A picture of the former tavern is located in the above reference. 2024: This vernacular building was constructed c.1920 as the second Buckhorn Inn at this location. It is rectangular in plan with board and batten and aluminum siding and an asphalt-shingled irregular roof (the majority of the roof is a simple gable that transitions to a steeply-pitched hipped roof at its southern end). The front elevation faces east and is asymmetrical in composition with an off-center projecting entry bay and three small, irregularly-spaced sliding windows. Another entrance is located in the cutaway southeast corner. The second story contains five singly-placed one-over-one windows. |
