Additional Information: | This building was first surveyed in 1977, at which time the building had been resided in wide steel or aluminum clapboards. The building was resurveyed in 2021, by which time the 1977 cladding had been removed from the main south-facing E. Beloit Street facade, revealing the original drop siding underneath. The wide aluminum cladding is still extant on the side and rear elevations, however. Also, original six-over-six-light windows on the main elevation have now (2021) been replaced with modern one-over-one windows. 2021: This rectilinear plan one-story-tall Astylistic Utilitarian Form building is clad in drop siding, although the original siding on the side and rear elevations has now been covered over with later aluminum clapboards. The main façade faces southwest and contains a large barn door opening in its center and a smaller door opening to its left. Two window openings are also located on the main façade and others are located on the side elevations and these originally held six-over-six-light double hung windows, some of which are still extant while others have been replaced with modern ones. The building’s date of construction is not known but it probably dates from the 1880s and it is known to have housed the Wagley Blacksmith & Repair Shop at one time. |
