NOTES
Additional Information:This two-story frame house is decorated with cut-out bargeboards on two front gables with pendants and drip moldings on the windows; it was the home of C.S. Weisse, owner of Sheboygan Falls Tannery.

The current Craftsman porch appears to date from c. 1915; according to Sandborn-Perris maps it is the same size and in the same location as the original porch.

This was the home of Charles S. Weisse. Weisse was the president and director of the C. S. Weisse Tannery, a major employer in Sheboygan Falls from the 1870s into the 1920s. Weisse bought the tannery, founded in 1855, in 1872. With skillful management, he built the business into a thriving concern, producing leather for harnesses. From 1898 until 1916, the tannery also provided electrical service to the community. In 1919, a fire severely damaged most of the tannery buildings. Weisse died when a brick fell on him while he was inspecting the fire damage. Although the complex was immediately rebuilt, the company closed in 1925.
