NOTES
Additional Information:Frame Carpenter Gothic church has pointed arch windows and a square center front tower with castellated top. 2020: re-sheathed with vinyl; was clapboard. 2020-2024 Targeted Resurvey of Sheboygan recommendation write-up: This frame-constructed, Gothic Revival-style church was built in 1892 as the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church, the congregation of which was organized in 1864. Their first church building was dedicated in 1868 and was located at the southeast corner of Indiana Avenue and Tenth Street. The subject church was their second edifice. Although currently located at 932 High Street, this building was originally built at the corner of S. 9th Street and Clara Avenue. In 1922, it was moved to this location, at which time a brick basement was built and a new overhang was built over the entrance. Since its survey in 2004, the church has been re-sheathed with vinyl siding. Despite having been built for Norwegian Lutherans, the congregation was reorganized in 1913 and the name was changed to Our Savior’s English Lutheran Church, the congregation of which worships today at 917 Mead Avenue. As of 1952, this church building was the home of the First Assembly of God. Today the church is home to Iglesia Getsemani, a Pentecostal congregation.
