NOTES
Additional Information:This two-story brick twentieth century commercial vernacular building was built circa 1914(Oneida County deeds, 70:95; Oneida County mortgages, 26:86) for Peter Rouman's confectionary. The building has a parapet with a rectangular cap, and is enriched with inset stone triangles and diamonds, decorative brickwork around the second-story windows, and a dentilled molding. The storefront has been completely altered, most recently in 1996 (City of Rhinelander building permit). Peter Rouman, a Greek immigrant who came to Rhinelander in 1902, operated a confectionery in Rhinelander from at least 1905 until at least 1940. He was also part owner of
the Rouman Amusement Company, along with his brother, George (Wisconsin State Gazetteers, Rhinelander City Directories, Rhinelander telephone books). The State Theater at 110 North
Brown was built for the Rouman Amusement Company in 1922. This building housed L. D. Booras and Sons Confectionery from 1920 until at least 1924, the Koppa Pharmacy from at least
1927 until at least 1950, and Weldon Taege's Northgate Pharmacy from at least 1953 until at least 1978.
