NOTES
Additional Information:The first concrete road in Rock County, has been covered by black-topping. Lost integrity before 1975. From the historical information, it seem sclear that Nancy Douglas photographed the wrong pavement; in any event the Milwaukee Ave. concrete pavement must have been lost when the street was widened into a two way parkway some years ago (R. Hartung 3/15/1983). "The first concrete road in Rock County was built in 1915 when a nine-foot strip one mile long was laid between Beloit and the Morgan farm on Milwaukee Road. This is still in use, although widened in 1926 to conform to the new road built between Clinton and Beloit" (The Book of Beloit, p. 108).
