Additional Information: | A small frame (now sided) two story square house on a stone foundation with a mansard roof penetrated by round arched windows decorated by a rising sun appliqued deisgn in the curve of the arch. Triangular shaped stained glass windows, leaded glass, window and door cornices and a classically inspired full-length front porch accent this unusual house. This house is important to the architectural history and architectural variety of Darlington because it is the only known structure influenced by the Second Empire style and the only structure with a mansard roof. Unfortunately, the architectural significance has been lessened by the addition of siding that resulted in the alteration of the original structure. |
