Additional Information: | "In 1944, retired Toledo contractor Orson Taylor bought this resort from Kathryn Maynard Diedrich, who started it in 1941. The resort had 3 cabins and a former summer home turned lodge. Within months, Taylor added seven cabins, with indoor plumbing, still a rarity. Taylor built a bar and store, necessary when the nearest town, Park Falls, was still a long drive on a very rough road. In 1953, the Godfrey family bought the resort -- they have owned it ever since. The store was closed and converted into a cabin in 1954, after the new road to Park Falls was constructed, which meant that local residents and visitors could drive to the nearest town regularly."
