This one and a half-story astylistic utilitarian biology laboratory features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a concrete block foundation, a drop board exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled gable roof. Description of Complex: The Asylum Bay Rough Fish Station (18 17E-06) is located approximately two miles north of downtown Oshkosh on the west shore of Lake Winnnebego in Winnegoego County. This is the largest state-owned rough fish station in Wisconsin. This complex has over ten structures, many of which were built before 1945. The rough fish station is divided into two areas. One of the areas includes primarily two storage buildings (constructed in 1938), a butler storage building (1935), and a corn crib (c. 1940). This area of the rough fish station included a public boat launching area. The other part of the complex included a laobratory (1938), a garage (1938) a boathouse (1938), a grain shed (1939), an oil house (1939), and a lighthouse (c. 1940). These buildings are mostly constructed with pale apple green drop siding and have white wood trim. The smaller buildings, such as the laboratory and the smaller sheds, are in very poor condition. The larger, more used buildings are repainted and in better condition. The complex overlooks a long, thin island on which is located a brick lighthouse with wood trim; the lighthouse is in very good condition. |
