NOTES
Additional Information:This building was a long-time saloon, operated by a number of persons betwene c. 1889 and prohibition. Between prohibition and 1930, the building was a soda fountain with numerous owners.

This building has some local interest as the location of a saloon business for its entire history, except for prohibition. The saloon businesses are not historically significant, but the building contributes to the overall development of comemrce in the Main Street Commercial Historic District.

Dominated by a large modern bracketed cornice ornamented with a row of dentils, this two-story small, three-bay commercial building is further characterized by raised brick segmentally arched window heads with articulated keystones and corbelled ends on the upper story of the facade. The keystones are inscribed with the year "1888" and the initial "D."

Built in 1888 for the Dobbrantz Brothers, this building has been altered by the addition of metal replacement window sashes on the upper story and of the completely remodeled red brick and glass store front. A two-story shed roofed enclosed porch is located at the rear of the building.

The C. and J. Dobbrantz building is a verbnacular building exhibiting the influence of the Italianate style. Although this building is not architecturally significant, the Dobbrantz building contributes to the historic architectural character of the Main Street Commercial Historic District.
