Additional Information: | "Despite its name, the resort was actually one of the first in the county. Seifert's Glenwood Resort opened in 1916, as a summer resort hotel, a name that implied a more upscale, pampered experience than a hunting camp or housekeeping cabin resort. Run by Mr. and Mrs. Albin Seifert, and later by their son Ervin and his wife Lucille, Siefert's offered American Plan rooms, which rented for a pricey $12 per week. By 1920, the Seiferts had added 4 cabins for guests desiring a more economical vacation, or to cook their own catches from famous Baraboo Lake, now part of the Flowage. Siefert's lodge boasted a parlor, reading room, dining room, hair mattresses and "good meals assured." In 1931, Siefert's became one of the first resorts to advertise access to the Flowage -- thanks to Albin's other son and his wife, visitors could find a boat landing and a simple cabin at the end of Flowage Road."
