Additional Information: | "Known as Mohapps Resort for most of its early existence, this resort started in 1938, no doubt capitalizing on its proximity to Highway 51, which was paved with gravel as far north as Big Pine Lake in 1931. Like many resorts, Charles and Barbara Mohapp had a lodge but emphasized their cabin business in their promotions. By 1945, they could boast "modern" housekeeping cottages, electricity, refrigerators, gas ranges" and the increasingly important "plumbing and showers."
