Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. "Until the 1930s, most visitor to Mercer's resorts came through this depot. Built in 1905, to replace an earlier depot farther north, the C&NW's decision to place the depot here led to the relocation of the entire business district, which had been developing near Echo Lake. The town essentially rebuilt itself around the new depot in order to take advantage of incoming goods and visitors. Most of the surrounding resorts hired or contracted for men to meet visitors at the depot and ferry them to the resorts by wagon, auto, or boat."
