Additional Information: | RETURNED EAVES. USED AS A CHURCH UNTIL 1967. TRANSOM OVER DOOR. Rear addition was built in 1924. The congregation moved to a new church in 1967. 2002: A congregation of the Presbyterian church organized in Delafield in 1866. Within Waukesha County, Presbyterianism made its first appearance with the foundation of Prairieville Academy (now Carroll College) in 1841. Five years later, the first congregation was formed in the present-day city of Waukesha. Returning to the subject structure, the group met in a log school house until it built the subject structure in 1868. In 1924, the rear addition was constructed to house a Sunday school. By 1953 the congregation had grown to 144 members and required more space. In response, the entire facility was moved twenty-five feet north to its present location, where it was placed on a concrete block foundation in order to create a basement. In 1965, the congregation moved to a larger facility. since that time, the building has housed a theater group and later, an antique shop known as The Steeple. It is currently vacant. |
