NOTES
Additional Information:This c.1840s small, one-story early settler building has a rectangular plan and a low, front-gable roof. The walls are of uncut fieldstone in irregular courses. The window and door openings have timber lintels. The foundation is presumed to be stone and the roof is sheathed with non-historic asphalt shingles. There is no sign of an existing chimney so the original purpose of the building is unclear. This particular limestone masonry style is not uncommon across early to mid-19th century vernacular building practices. The building sits on a farmstead property that contains structures from multiple eras with multiple additions and alterations, including ones from the past few decades. As a result, the remainder of the property does not meet farmstead survey criteria.

The property was evaluated for the National Register under Criteria A, B, and C. There is no evidence to suggest that the building would be eligible under Criterion A: History or Criterion B: Significant Person. Although the stone structure appears to be largely intact and preserved on the property, it lacks sufficient architectural interest as an early example of a stone building in Sheboygan County and appears out of place in its current setting. The property does not qualify as eligible under Criterion C: Architecture.
