Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2000: "This two-story fieldstone house with its grout-like veneer is essentially square in plan and is topped with a hipped roof. Nearly all openings of the south, west and east facades feature six-over-six light windows along each level, except for the central, first-floor opening which contains a door with sidelights and a classical wooden surround. Walls are twenty-two inches thick. A gambrel-roof, two-car garage, gabled storage shed and outhouse are also located on the property. In 1839, Frederick Otis purchased 320 acres in Section 33. The date of construction for the subject residence is reportedly ca. 1854-1856. By 1857, Mike Spink(s) was the owner of the one-acre plot which was carved from the George Howitt farm. In 1873, the surrounding 79 acres was owned by J. Weaver; however, the plat of the one-acre parcel does not provide a name. The next available play (1891) indicates that Patrick Hanrhan owns the single-acre plot, as well as 40 additional acres to the south. Thereafter, F. Voss, and later, William and John Voss owned the parcel. From 1922 to 1947 William Lembke owned the 79 surrounding acres, after which it was held by Emil Lembke. By 1964, Albert and June Lehmann purchased the corner parcel." |
