NOTES
Additional Information:This building was constructed for Henry Volkman in 1882, and he operated a grocery here until around 1885. It was then a number of retail businesses until around 1911 when it became the Albert Kaliebe shoe store, which it was until at least 1930.

This building has some historical interest as the location of several retail businesses. None are individually historically significant, but they contribute to the overall development of commerce in the Main Street Commercial Historic District

Originally a cream brick three-bay, two-story comemrcial building constructed for Henry Volkman in 1882, this building originally used as a grocery store has been covered completely by stucco. The storefront gas a recessed off-set entrance. The Volkman grocery store was incorporated into the adjacent property at 618 East Main in 1986.

The Henry Volkman building has suffered extensive and unsympathetic alterations of its architectural character. Because of the extensive alteration of its historic character, this building does not contribute to the proposed Main Street Historic District.
