NOTES
Additional Information:One of the occupants of this house was Fred Gamm, a bank teller, in 1900. John Stafeil lived here between c. 1907 and c. 1919.

Built in the 1890s on a high stone foundation, this hipped roof, Queen Anne Revival house has a short gabled wing projecting from the facade and a two-story gable roof bay with pent roof over the lower story on the west elevation as well as gabled projections on the east elevation and at the rear of this large brick house. Decorative shingles and bargeboards in the gable ends, stained glass windows, flat stone lintels and open spindle porches in the front and rear angles of the house further characterize this cream brick Queen Anne house.

The Fred Gamm house is significant as an example of the Queen Anne style in Watertown. One of the few good brick examples of the Queen Anne style remaining in the city, this house exhibits the common Queen Anne hipped roof with multiple cross gables and multiple overhangs and projections that provide the irregularity of form and wall surface essential to this picturesque style. Other significant extant examples of the Queen Anne style in the city constructed in brick are the houses at 305 N. Washington (55-30), 400 N. Washington (22-21), 512 S. 5th (41-21), and 600 S. 3rd (42-8).
