Additional Information: | Corbelled brick window hoods; rectangular wooden north bay window with paneled apron; brick and shingled entrance in angle of house; hip roofed entrance porch with turned posts; enclosed north side porch; cream brick addition on south side. This house is significant under criterion C as an example of the Queen Anne style in Watertown. One of the few good brick examples of the Queen Anne style remaining in the city, this house exhibits the common Queen Anne hipped roof with multiple cross gables and multiple overhangs and projections that provide the irregularity of form and wall surface essential to this picturesque style. Other significant extant examples of the Queen Anne style in the city constructed in brick are the houses at 305 No. Washington (55-30), 400 No. Washington (22-21), 512 So. 5th (41-21), and 600 SO. 3rd (42-8). |
