Additional Information: | Dowling lived here from 1900-1908. He was a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin from 1895-1928. He also was the editor of Mathematical Series published by the Johnson Publishing Co. John L. Sammis lived here from 1911-1935. He was a Professor of Dairy Husbandry at the University of Wisconsin from 1906-1940. He was the author of "Cheese Making", the standard text on the subject and of which there were 15 editions. In 1932, with A.T. Beuhn, originated the manufacturing of cheddar cheese from pasteurized milk. |
