Additional Information: | Open wooden ell porch and entrance porch under common mansard roof deocrated by dentil trim and bracket capitals; segmental arched window with brick lintels and projecting bnrick string course; one story rear enclosed porch. This was the home of Otto Goeldner, a jeweler, between c. 1915 and at least 1930. Prior to this he lived at his store's location. The Goeldners were long-time jewelry and musical instrument retailers in Watertown's downtown between the 1860s and the time Otto built this house in the 1910's. They lived at their store's location until this time as well. This house has some historical interest because it was the later home of Otto Goeldner, a small but successful merchant in Watertown. Because the Goeldners, both carl, Otto's father and founder of the business, and Otto, lived for such a long time at their place of business which still is extant, this house is of only secondary significance to Otoo's career. As such, it does not meet the criteria for individual significance in local history. |
