NOTES
Additional Information:The B in the photo code stands for BKFD. DESCRIPTION: This is a two story L-plan vernacular Gothic Revival house. The gable front facing Brookfield Road has a steeply-pitched roof. Two segmentally arched windows are centered on both the first and second stories. Windows contain two-over-two panes set within double-hung sashes, also with arched heads. A shed roofed dormer fills the second story of the south projecting ell. The one-story porch that infills the ell has been modified by an enclosure with six double hung windows. In form and scale, this house is quite like the Hiram Showerman Residence. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE: This vernacular house is an example of a type in Brookfield Junction that possesses the roof pitch of the Gothic Revival, but lacks any overt ornamentation. Whether any bargeboards existed is unknown. The house has good integrity despite the enclosure of the front porch. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: On the 1873 Plat, this is one of the four houses sited on land owned by J. A. Robinson; on the 1891 plat, the house at this location is identified as belonging to "D. W." HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Further research should be undertaken to determine the builder of this house and any potential historical significance it may possess.
