Additional Information:A 'site file' titled Appleton Locks 1-3 Historic District exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Approximately 750 feet of the Lower Fox Navigation Canal are included within this district. Generally running southwest to the northeast at this point, the canal's depth does not exceed six feet, and its width is approximately 125 feet across the top. There are no special embankment features along the canal, which has been dredged periodically throughout its history.
