Additional Information: | Photo code: OUT/FRV 2/4A AA/3. See HAER form. NAER INVENTORY (03/1981): The Seymour Woodenware Company was originally the Seymour Manufacturing Company started in 1895. They manufactured agricultural implements, did general repair and jobbing. The company went out of business in 1898. Paul Gablowsky bought the foundry and remoldeled it into a mill to manufacture cheese boxes. The property has changed hands numerous times and fires destroyed all of the buildings except the machine room. The building has four foot thichk stone walls and is still standing. It is surrounded by newer buildings. Subsequently only the top of the stepped boomtown facade is visible. The present owner is Joseph Adamski and Sons. They purchased the structure in 1968. Cheese boxes are still manufactured but the specialty has become pails and shingles. |
