Additional Information: | See HAER form. Photo code: OU:FRV FF:4-6. The structure was probably constructed by Mr. C. Holschuh around 1894 as a creamery. In 1897 the creamery was purchased by Mr. Phil Greiner who operated the plant for cheese and butter production until 1923, when the operation was taken over by Carl Greiner. Carl Greiner produced cheddar cheese exclusively until 1956 when the operation closed. During the period of its operation the cheese factory served between fourty and fifty patrons with a daily production output of 26,000 lbs. The framed structure measures 60 x 48 on a concrete foundation. None of the original equipment remains on site. |
