OAHP INVENTORY (07/28/1981): This structure was probably constructed around 1875 by Mr. Henry Peters, an early local entrepeneur in Black Creek, invoved in the grain and general merchandise trade. Mr. Peters sold all his business interests in Black Creek in 1891. By 1911 the elevator was operating under the name of Cargill Elevator and by 1923 it was known as the Green Bay Elevator. The structure ceased operation in the 50's and has been used as a storage facility since that time. The building measurs 25' x 60' exclusive of the one story addition to the west, and has a rubble foundation, gable roof and verticle board siding. |
