Additional Information: | O.M. Burdick built this general feed and seed store. After his death in 1908, his son, Edward, ran the business. In 1915, the store was sold to Arthur Sassman. He assembled and sold farm machinery here. In 1920, the building was sold to A.J. Hoops, who utilized it as a tinsmith shop. In 1902, the feed mill next door at 109 S. Main St. was constructed and it was originally connected to this building via a tramway. The feed mill originally processed corn, oats and barley which were sold to breweries in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This building is clad in pressed tin sheets whose design resembles brick. It is no longer connected to the now (2006) truncated feed mill next door. See also 109 S. Main St. (AHI# 73708). |
