Additional Information: | A TWO-STORY FRAME ON A STONE FOUNDATION WITH A HIP ROOF INTERSECTED BY GABLED EXTENSIONS ON FOUR SIDES THAT INCLUDE A PEDIMENTED GABLE OVER A WINDOW WALL WITH CHAMFERED CORNERS. FAN SHAPED WINDOWS AND SHINGLES DECORATE THE PEDIMENTED GABLE ENDS AND CUT OUT SCROLL WORK, STAINED GLASS TRANSOM WINDOWS AND OTHER DECORATIVE DEVICES ACCENT THE CHAMFERED CORNER OF THE WINDOW BAY TO THE SOUTH. PROJECTING CORNICES OVER THE WINDOW AND A SLIGHTLY PROJECTING STRING COURSE AT 2ND FLOOR LEVEL VISUALLY DEFINE THE DIVISION OF THE TWO STORY STRUCTURE. A FRONT PORCH LEADS TO THE DOUBLE DOORED ENTRANCE PLACED IN THE SIDE OF THE FRONT FACADE. THIS FRAME HOUSE IS ARCHITECTURALLY IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY OF DARLINGTON BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF THE BETTER EXAMPLES OF A FRAME VICTORIAN HOUSE IN DARLINGTON. |
