Additional Information: | SPLIT FIELDSTONE WALLS W/CUT STONE QUOINS. WOOD PEAKED ARCH LINTELS. DOOR W/MULTI-PANED TRANSOM AND SIDELIGHTS. DESCRIPTION This two story Greek Revival house is constructed of coursed fieldstone rubble. It has a low pitched gable roof, a one-story ell, and polished limestone corner quions. Windows are single or two-over-two light double hung sashes topped with denticulated wooden lintels and shutters. The main entrance has an identical lintel and is decorated with very narrow side lights and a transom. The ell porch has plain wooden posts. Wood shingles cover the roof. Also on the property is a gable roofed barn with board siding, a fieldstone foundation, and small windows openings. A tile-covered silo sits at one end of the barn and one side is banked. ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE Mequon has a number of limestone and fieldstone construction buildings and outbuildings and most of them feature the fine construction techniques and a materials this house has. What is particularly interesting about this house are the unusual lintels, the corner quions and Greek Revival entrance. Because of its high level of preservation and fine construction, this house has significance for architecture in the city.
