NOTES
Additional Information:This vernacular front gabled church building features round arched stained glass windows and a gabled entrance porch with a round arched opening and recessed door. This well-preserved frame church has been altered only by the removal of the bell turret. Two years after the first Catholic service in Viroqua, plans for the new church were drawn Jerry Dawson and land was donated by Mayor F.A. Chase. The cornerstone was laid on October 15, 1907. The parish hired contractor and builder Chris Peterson to construct the building and it was dedicated on June 19, 1908. When a new larger Catholic church was built, the old church building was purchased in 1960 to house the Vernon County Historical Museum. It served until the museum was moved to the Vernon County Normal School building in 1989. Presently, it serves as the Vernon County Church Museum.
