Additional Information: | James Leschinger, a contractor, lived here between c. 1907 and c. 1924. Displaying the irregularity of form and surface essential to the Queen Anne style, this one and a half story turn of the century house exhibits multiple forms including intersecting gable featuring overhanging conical shaped elements extending in front of the gable, a tall conical porch roof and pedimented gable roofed dormer. Decorative shingles on the gables and dormer, a decked mansard roofed south bay window with cresting in the roof curb and stained glass, leaded glass windows, and an open porch with a rounded corner, balustrade and Tuscan columns as topped by a high conical roof adds further to the irregularity and ornament of this small Queen Anne styled house. This house exhibits much irregularity of form including multiple gables, multiple overhangs and wall projections, an open porch, conical roof and dormers as well as irregularity of surface such as decorative wall shingles, stained glass and leaded glass. The Leschinger House is built from unidentified standard plans. Near identical houses exist at 1925 Division in East Troy and on Wisconsin Street in Mineral Point. |
