Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Vernacular style building with a red brick exterior, stilted segmented windows arches, and corbel trim in cornice. The Hanson-Lord Block was constructed in two parts in 1882 and 1892, but the 1892 section was architecturally matched to the 1882 section. The building has a brick corbeled cornice and brick label moldings over second story openings. The openings are filled in with modern single-light sashes and are partially enclosed on the south section. The storefronts have been modernized. The Hanson-Lord Block contributes to the Main Street Historic District because of its Italianate influenced architectural details. As a long-time commercial building, the block also contributes to the historical significance of the district. |
