Additional Information:This two-story front gable house has a low-pitched gable roof and clapboard siding. Windows are single lighted double-hung sashes. Also on the property are some sheds and a large gambrel-roofed barn with board siding, large sliding doors, and a gable-roof dormer on the side facades. A one-story modern structure extends form one end of the barn. It is probably used for the apple orchard business.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This house and agriculture outbuilding were owned by [Martin] Friedrich Buss, who came to the Friestadt community in Mequon with his family, Martin and Dorthea Bruss and other brother and sisters. The Bruss family was part of a large group of immigrants from northern Germany who came to this country for religious freedom. Martin Freidrich Bruss was born in Pomerania in northern Germany and came with his family when he was 21 years old. He perchased this farm in 1841. his wife, Wilhemina Buth, was also frm Pomerania and they were married in 1843, Their daughter, Hanna, married August Frenz, who became owner of this farm in 1883. August was owner until 1924, and members of the Frenz family still occupy this farm.
