Additional Information: | The Nelson house is a two-story Queen Anne style building with a complex hip and gable roof with a jerkinhead gable on the front elevation. The gable peaks are covered with wood shingles and wood shingles decorate the area between the first and second stories. The walls are covered with clapboards and punctuated with primarily single light sashes, some paired. The front elevation has a two-light picture style window with a stained glass transom. The main entrance is under an overhang decorated with a full pediment and supported by a modern iron post. Iron posts and a balustrade form a second story balcony over the entrance. The Nelson house adds to the architectural significance of the Lake Street Historic district as a good example of a simple Queen Anne style house. |
