NOTES
Additional Information:This was the home of Henry Uehling, a real estate salesman, between c. 1900 and c. 1924.

This house has some historical interest as the home of Henry Uehling, real estate salesman.

Exhibiting irregularity of form created by the combination of a hipped roof with lower cross gables, this Queen Anne styled house is characterized further by shingled gable ends; bracketed overhang gables, east two-story cut-away bay with overhanging gable, porthole window and recessed porch with short Ionic columns supporting a frieze with classical swag designs in the front gable. Window cornices above one over one windows and screened flat roofed front porch with bracketed eaves and replacement iron supports as well as a two-story west sude bay window are additional features of the house. A decked garage has been added to the rear.

The Henry Uehling house is significant as an example of the Queen Anne style in Watertown executed in wood. One of the few good frame examples of the Queen Anne style remaining in the city, and one of the best preserved, this house exhibits the common Quen Anne hipped roof with multiple cross gables and multiple lower cross gables and the multiple overhangs and projections that provide the irregularity of form and wall surface essential to this picturesque style. Other significant examples of the Queen Anne style in the city constructed in wood are the houses at 803 Clyman St. (43-27), 306 N. Washington (55-28), and 118 N. Washington (55-18).
