Additional Information: | Flat roofed east bay window with half columns; arched windows with classical bead trim; projecting wooden triangular pediment shaped window and door heads; original two over two windows on lower story; shed roofed rear addition. This was the home of David Jones, a retired farmer, between c. 1913 and at least 1936. One of the most elaborate and best preserved of this type in the city, this house exhibits architectural details associated window heads, low pitched gable roof and the classically inspired Palaldian styled window in the east gable. Another similar vernacular example of the Italianate influence is the house at 413 So. 6th (40-26). Better representative examples of the style are the Cole House at 302 No. 4th (28/22), the Hartwig house at 908 County Lane (27/32), Prentiss house at 802 Clyman (43-26), the Hill house at 700 Clyman (43-25), and the Kusel house at 216 No. Church (54-15). |
