Additional Information: | St. John's Evangelical Church is similar in style to Water's earlier design for the First Congregational Church (137 Algoma Blvd. OS 12/23) which, like this design, was based on the English Gothic churches. St. John's is constructed of random ashlar. The entrance is on the west end and consists of three arched openings springing from columns. The arch is repeated in the large tracery window above. Corner towers (of unequal height) terminate in crenellations. This is a significant example of Waters later work. |
