NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation.

This is the best frame commercial Queen Anne building remaining in Oshkosh. This structure is nicely proportioned with its corner turret rising above the parapet roof. A pediment rises above the roof line, classical swag details occur above windows. Ornament and massing convey a feeling of delicacy and refinement, compared to brick Queen Anne commercial structures (579 N. Main St., OS 13/29 and 1124 Oregon St., OS 2/23) this building appears graceful and less massive.

This building was constructed in 1910 by the Oshkosh Brewing Company as a saloon outlet for their product. The company set August Witzke up in the business which remained in the family until 1996. The clientele was mainly lumbermen.
